Coastal Lifestyle: Our apiary boasts a unique coastal setting, with hives situated at sea level. This distinctive environment provides our bees with a lifestyle unlike their high-altitude counterparts, resulting in a honey that captures the essence of its coastal origins. Here, the drier climate and distinct flora of the terrain contribute to the unparalleled flavor profile of our honey.
We do not smoke our bees: At Superbees, we prioritize the well-being of our bees above all else. Unlike conventional beekeeping methods that involve the use of smoke to calm the bees during hive inspections, we have adopted a gentler approach. Our experienced beekeepers utilize methods such as gentle handling and the use of minimal disturbance techniques to interact with the hives. By avoiding the use of smoke, we ensure that we not only promote the natural behavior of the bees but also preserves the integrity and flavor of our honey, as it is not tainted by the smoky residues often associated with traditional beekeeping practices.
Our honey is collected, transported, and stored in glass and stainless steel containers exclusively: Quality and purity are paramount when it comes to our honey production process. That's why we go the extra mile to ensure that every step of the journey, from hive to bottle, maintains the integrity of our honey. Unlike plastic containers that can leach harmful chemicals or alter the taste of the honey, we exclusively use glass and stainless steel containers. These inert materials are non-reactive and do not impart any unwanted flavors or odors to the honey, preserving its natural taste and quality. Additionally, our choice of packaging reflects our commitment to sustainability, as glass and stainless steel are infinitely recyclable and eco-friendly.
All our honey is single origin. We do not mix yields from different hives within the same container: Each jar of Superbees honey tells a unique story of its origin. We take great pride in offering single-origin honey, which means that it comes from the nectar of flowers within a specific geographic region and is sourced from a single hive. By maintaining this strict single-origin policy, we ensure the authenticity, traceability, and consistency of our honey. Each batch reflects the distinct floral characteristics and terroir of its respective location, allowing our customers to experience the true essence of the honey's origin. This commitment to single-origin honey not only enhances the flavor complexity but also honors the hard work and dedication of our bees and beekeepers who meticulously tend to their hives to produce the finest quality honey.
We practice flash harvesting. Unlike traditional methods that involve removing an entire section of a hive, called superstructure, our beekeepers collect honey frame by frame. This meticulous approach allows us to target specific seasonal flowers better, resulting in honey with distinct flavor profiles that reflect the changing seasons. By harvesting frame by frame, we can extract honey more frequently, ensuring that each batch is fresh and vibrant. This method also reduces stress on our bees, as we disturb their habitat minimally during the harvesting process. Ultimately, flash harvesting allows us to maintain the purity and integrity of our honey while honoring the natural rhythm of our bee colonies and the surrounding environment.
